January 1, 2016 - Day 5

It was 2016 and we were almost to Seattle.  After spending 5 whole days in the car, knowing that we would arrive in Seattle in 8 short hours was the best feeling in the world.  We started our morning with Starbucks coffee because duh, we were on our way to the coffee capitol!  The first couple of hours through Oregon went by quickly.  For a long stretch of road, we were literally staring at Washington state from across the river.  We finally crossed the state line and entered Washington.  Once we got closer to the city and started to see signs leading us to Seattle, time started to creep by.  We would see a sign that said "Seattle 28 miles", then what felt like 10 miles down the road, we would see another sign saying "Seattle 25 miles".  WHAT?!  We were beyond ready to be there... and to be out of the car!

Then, it happened.  We saw it.  We saw the city.  We were here!  We were actually IN Seattle!  The next couple of hours were a blur.  We pulled up to our apartment building and started to unpack the truck.  Once we got everything into the apartment, we unpacked a few boxes and got our couch and bed put together.  We realized that we hadn't eaten lunch that day and were completely starving.  Andrew knew of an amazing pizzeria called Serious Pie.  And oh. my. gosh.  It was seriously delicious.  Once we were full on pizza, we headed back to the apartment and basically went straight to bed.  5 days, 50-something hours, and 3,000 miles in a car will completely wear a person (or 4) out.

For the first time in weeks, we woke up in our bed.  It was glorious.  Plus, it was our first official day in the city so the day was already the best.  Andrew and my mom went to scout out our closest neighborhood Starbucks, of course (if anyone knows my husband, they know his obsession!).  My dad and I stayed behind - me to unpack a few boxes, my dad to play with the pups.

It was a beaaauuutiful Saturday.  Really, it couldn't have been better.  We all got ready and walked down to the Pike Place Market - which was only a short 10 minute walk from our apartment.  We walked through the market, ate some lunch, and walked some more.  When Andrew and I were in Seattle for his interview, one of the places we went on our brief visit was the market.  We admired all the colorful fresh fruits and veggies, the beautiful flowers, and the quirky little stores.  Andrew told me that if we ended up moving here, the first thing we would do was go to the market and he would buy me a bouquet of flowers.

We ended the day at Target to get the necessities (well, more than just necessities because it is Target after all).

Our cart had it's own escalator, ha!

At the end of the day, we were just happy to be home.  Our new home.
