And We're Off

"If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.  All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country."  Deuteronomy 28:1-3

December 28, 2015 - Day 1

Moving day was here! We started the day super early (6 am) and with our favorite, Dunkin’ Donuts (thanks to my brother’s girlfriend, Ellen).  With munchkins in our bellies and Starbucks coffee in our hands, we were ready for take off.  Day 1 on the road was VERY uneventful (well, except for the pouring rain).  However, it was also exciting because we were finally on our way to Seattle.  Granted, we were 5 days away, but still exciting nonetheless.  The first state we went through was Tennessee, obviously.

Hi Nashville! Bye Nashville!

Then, we briefly went through Kentucky and Illinois.  With a love of all the Chicago shows (i.e. Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD), we were a little disappointed not to be able to go through the city.  But we will be back for you one day, Chicago!  The next state on our quest was Missouri.  It was exciting to be able to go through St. Louis and to see the Gateway Arch - sending us on our way to the west.

Wait, are we already in Seattle?!

The last stop for the day was Columbia, Missouri.  After almost 12 hours of driving, we were ready for dinner and some much needed rest.

December 29, 2015 - Day 2

Considering all the troubles we had before the move, it seemed like a miracle that the first day of our trip went so smoothly.  It was time to start our second day on the road.  It was then that I ran into the first problem…

I left my straightener AND blow dryer back in Knoxville! *Cue the crying face emoji*

After accepting the fact that my hair would not be the same for the next few days, it was time to get back in the car.  We drove through the rest of Missouri and into Kansas.  I’m not sure we were mentally prepared for how flat (and boring) Kansas would be.  It was never. ending.  To be fair, it was beautiful in its own special way.

By the time we got out of Kansas, it was nighttime.  We were entering Colorado, but unfortunately couldn’t see much due to the darkness.  With exhaustion setting in, we decided that Denver would be our last stop for the evening.  Another 12 hours down.  Another 12 hours closer to Seattle... and a terrifying snow storm (I'll get to that in the next post).
