In God We Trust

Welcome to The Gray Beginning!  Gray being my favorite color, the color of our home decor, the color of *most* of my wardrobe, and the color of the typical Seattle sky.

My name is Lesley.  I was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee.  I am married to my wonderful husband, Andrew.  Andrew and I have been together for five years and were married on February 21st (almost one year!!!).  We also have two babies, fur babies that is.  Major who is 3 and most recently Georgia who is 2.

In the five years that we have been together, Andrew and I have always talked about moving to a bigger city.  We both have always had big dreams and aspirations for our future.

In September, Andrew had a job opportunity open up in Seattle, Washington.  To be completely honest, I did not know much about Seattle.  I had never been to the PNW before, but I told him that he should at least apply and see what happened.  I never really thought that much about it.  My husband could tell you that I am the type of person that doesn’t like to get my hopes up.  So when Andrew called to tell me that he got the job, I was ecstatic!  We couldn’t believe that we’d actually be moving.  To a big city!  Our big dreams were becoming a reality!

As excited as we were, we were also very scared.  We would be moving to the other side of the country.  Away from all of our family and all of our friends.  To a place where we knew NO ONE!  Very scared might actually be putting it lightly.  This is where our faith had to step in.  Andrew and I have always put God at the center of our relationship.  We trust that God’s plan for us and for our lives is the best.  And this was clearly God’s plan for us.

The good news was that Andrew didn’t have to start until January.  That meant we could spend the holidays with our family and friends.  It was also nice to have that time to prepare for our big move.  At first, I didn’t want to wait that long to move.  However, now that I look back, I needed every bit of that time and I probably could’ve used more!  I am a very organized person and I tried to make sure that every part of this move was planned out well in advance.  The more organized, the less that could go wrong, right?  Well, not exactly.  I won’t go into details, but let’s just say that we ran into some major issues!  Again, we had to learn that God’s plan is the best plan.  This seems like such a recurring theme in our lives.  In God we NEED to trust!  Always.

With this blog, I hope to keep our family and friends up to date on all of our adventures in our new city.  Seattle is our new beginning.  The next few posts will be about our 5 DAY trip from Tennessee to Washington.
