Where Is The Ice Cream?

Andrew and I had big plans for exploring this past weekend.  The weekend before, we had driven around a little bit and scouted out some places we wanted to go.  One of those places being Pioneer Square.  There were a lot of cute shops and restaurants so we were looking forward to exploring a new area - plus, it was supposed to be sunny and nice!

Saturday rolled around and we woke up to rain.  Seriously?!  I know it's Seattle and all, but come on, sunshine was in the forecast!  We got up and walked the dogs to the nearby park (Georgia woke up with a stomach ache and needed to eat grass).  Once we got back to the apartment, all 4 of us were soaked and cold.  Needless to say, I would've been perfectly fine staying in and binging on Netflix all day, but Andrew convinced me that we needed to get out of the apartment.  And I was so glad that we did.

We walked to the mall and took the Link Light Rail to Pioneer Square.  But first, Starbucks!  We hadn't taken the Light Rail yet, and we were excited to try it.  It is mostly underground like a subway, but is also above ground in some areas.  It reminded me of the Metro system in D.C.  The station was actually very pretty and very clean.  We were trying to figure out which way to go by looking at the maps, but only got more confused.  We ended up asking someone which way we needed to go - we're still such tourists!

Confusing, right?!

After about 30 minutes of trying to figure out what the heck to do, we were on the train and on our way to Pioneer Square.  By the time we made it there, it was dark.  First on the agenda was King Street Station (an Amtrak station).  When we were driving around the weekend before, we passed King Street Station and thought that it looked interesting.  As interesting as it was from the outside, I never would've guessed what was inside.  It was so beautiful that it took my breath away.  I could have stayed in this building - staring at the ceiling and the stunning details - all night.

After Andrew pried me away from King Street Station, we walked down the street to the heart of Pioneer Square.  Unfortunately, by the time we got there, all the cute little shops I mentioned earlier, were closed.  We will be going back another time (during the day) to check everything out.

Our plan was to go to church Sunday morning.  But while we were getting ready, we decided to be spontaneous and go to church that evening so we could spend the beautiful day downtown.  We walked down to the mall area (which is clearly our favorite!) and spent a few hours going around to the shops.  Since the day was sunny and clear, we decided it was the perfect day to check out Kerry Park in Queen Anne - it has an amazing overview of the city.

As great as the view was, I have to be honest here... one of the main reasons we went to Kerry Park was because there was an ice cream shop nearby.  We have been on the hunt for ice cream basically since we got here.  I'm talking ice cream on a waffle cone, not out of a carton (not that there's anything wrong with that either).  The ice cream shop is called Molly Moon's and it's a local favorite.  It is known for it's homemade ice cream and unique flavors.  And it definitely did not disappoint!

We ended our evening and wonderful weekend with the night service at The City Church.  If anyone would like to hear the sermon from that night, visit this link here <-- I would HIGHLY recommend it!  Isn't it crazy how God knows exactly what you need to hear and when you need to hear it?!  I hope the message is something that some of you may need to hear and it speaks to you, as it did to me.

"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death."  Romans 8:1-2
